Little Explorers Speech Pathology bills the current NDIS rate for 1:1 therapy, which is $193.99 per hour. Your clinician will discuss your session length in your initial consultation session. 

Generally, Little Explorers Speech Pathology provides 60-minute therapy sessions, with an additional 15 minutes of planning time and 15 minutes of note writing time per session, meaning each session is billed at 90 minutes / 1.5 hrs, excluding travel. 

This structure ensures your child receives a high-quality, individualised service both during and outside of session time. However, session length and billing can be adjusted to suit your child’s needs, attention and comfort.

Your clinician will discuss this further with you and adjustments can be made to session length etc to best accommodate your child’s needs and support an evidenced based therapy approach.

Sessions may include a combination of:

• Direct therapy
  • Face-to-face or via Zoom, phone etc as needed
  • Discussion with parents/carers regarding your child’s needs
  • Carer capacity building and coaching
  • Administration of screeners or assessments
  • Provision of strategies and home practice activities

• Indirect support tasks, such as:
  • Planning and preparation
  • Preparing resources specific to your child’s goals
  • Reviewing screeners or assessment tools
  • Writing session summary notes that include recommendations, strategies to practice between visits and planning for future sessions

A variety of assessment tools may be used during therapy sessions including play-based assessment, observation and informal assessment, parent questionnaires and report and standardised assessment. 

Your clinician may discuss if further assessment / standardised assessment is recommended and what this may include, including any cost associate with the assessment and report writing. 

Reports and referrals can be completed as required and are billed at the same hourly rate of $193.99. This may include:

• Communication summaries or profiles
• Detailed language or speech reports following standardised assessment
• Documentation and recommendations to support Disability Inclusion Profile applications for school aged children
• Support with NDIS referrals
• Mealtime plans 
• Coordinating device trials for communication devices and systems
• Assistive technology applications
