After a previous career in the disability field, Katie retrained as a speech pathologist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Master of Speech Pathology from La Trobe University in 2018 and is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia.
Katie has experience working in the early childhood intervention space, and private practice, supporting children with developmental delays and disabilities, complex communication needs and feeding challenges. Katie has a passion for supporting early language development, assisting children with speech sound differences, exploring alternative forms of communication and AAC (including visuals, sign and speech generating devices) and supporting families to create responsive mealtimes and reduce mealtime worry.
She has completed further professional development in the areas of paediatric speech, language, neurodiversity affirming practice, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and paediatric feeding disorders.
Katie created Little Explorers Speech Pathology to combine her passions for all things communication and feeding. She is passionate about supporting children to make connections, build relationships and participate in their broader community.
When not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her partner and children, being outdoors, beach wandering, gardening, baking, reading, or walking her dogs, Molly and Harry.
